Fools On Parade are tipped to be Wallasey’s biggest break through. Now, having gigged most of Merseyside, they are looking to travel further afield. Consisting of five school friends, they discovered their raw talent which many people can only dream about. I met up with the boys after their epic performance at the Floral Pavilion where they took full control of the stage, having their fans on their feet screaming for an encore at the end. I thought it was time for me to go behind the scenes of Fools On Parade and give you the inside scoop on what life is like for five, sixteen year old boys who are beginning to live their long awaited dream.

When speaking to the lads I asked them where they would hope to be in ten years time. Their response was rousing - they told me that they aspire to release “two albums and completed a national tour” in that space of time – can you imagine my excitement? October 2010 marked the formation of the group, and since then they have gone on to write twelve songs, with one of their personal favourites being “December”. When I asked the boys why this was such a favourite, they said: “We love playing this as it is fast and bouncy and gets the crowd up and on their feet. I remember this one time performing “December” a girl actually jumped onto stage and started to grind against Craig. His face was priceless. No one knew what to do. So we just carried on playing. I think it was safe to say she was wasted. She even slipped his number into his pocket - we have ripped him ever since.” However, the lads also love performing “Thank You For Watching”. They said that they “play this song at the end of every gig. The song means a lot to us as the lyrics really relate to us as a band”.

It is true to say that Fools On Parade hope to aspire other young artists, in the same way that the Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane “slightly inspired us with our own music as we love their style and it would be an absolute dream to ever come close to what they have achieved.” I then went on to ask them what the feeling is like to stand in front of a ear-splitting crowd knowing that all those people are there for you. They told me that “the best part of performing is when the crowd sing back the lyrics that we have written ourselves”. They said it’s “overwhelming” and once they leave the stage all they want to do is “relive it again and again.” They said that they “feel so lucky and grateful to be where they are, as there are as so many upcoming bands that would die to be in the position that we are so luckily in. I never thought in a million years that it actually would be us - your regular, sixteen year olds.”

The five best mates all met in their local, all boys’ high school - Mosslands. They are all currently studying for their A-Levels and said that “we want to carry on with full time education. We see it as something that we can fall back on if our musical dream were to ever be tarnished. But if it doesn’t happen I think we would definitely love to have some sort of day to day job associated with music - whether it is a music teacher or simply to inspire someone with our lyrics. To pass on something like that would be incredibly satisfying indeed.” The lads told me that the best place they have ever gigged was the Liverpool 02 Academy. “Mesmerising” was how they described it as there was such a big buzz in the air. They said that the crowd were unreal and when we came off the stage the adrenaline rush was unreal. They also said that the response that they got on twitter was the best they had ever had. They then went on to tell me they have always loved music since they were young and that they all could play instruments between the ages of 9-11 (that’s when they started to realise their love for playing and performing music).

Fools On Parades next gig will be at The Picket in Liverpool for just £5.00. You can also follow them on Twitter by searching @foolsonparade where you can find out all the latest news and gossip from the lads. Also check out www.soundcloud.co.uk to listen to the lad’s latest singles.
